  • Nice to see that this is still holding up well since my last note. Not a typical Vinho Verde -- more like a good Muscadet. Loads of citrus on the nose. Crisp acidity on the palate, medium-bodied, with plenty of lemon. Very nice bottle of wine for $10.

  • Starts off sweet and finishes sour. Heavy on the lemons and citrus. Decent acid. Not a bad buy for $10.

  • Aromas of saline, oyster shell and lemon. Flavors of lime, sea salt and mineral. Ends with mineral driven 15 second finish. Beautiful acidity on this and can't beat the $10 price tag.

Follow up: Feeling the high acid tonight after the meal.

  • Pale lemon core. Clear and bright. Pear, lemon and mint on the nose. Light-bodied, yet heftier than most Vinho Verde, without any petillance. Crisp acidity, coupled with impressive fruit intensity, mirroring the nose nicely, with an added mineral streak (think Muscadet). A no-brainer at this price point.

  • A blend of Loureiro and Alvarinho.

Almost colorless, limpid pale green appearance. Somewhat muted and very slightly reductive nose with vague aromas of ripe green apples and a hint of gunpowder smoke. Very light-bodied, crisp and focused on the palate with bracingly high acidity. Sharp, bone-dry flavors of pithy lemon, some green apples, a little bit of apple peel bitterness, a hint of gunpowder smoke and a tough of steel. Very austere and tightly-knit flavors of steely minerality, Granny Smith apple and pithy grapefruit in the aftertaste.

A very sharp, steely and mineral-driven Vinho Verde not unlike the Muscadet wines of Loire. Classic in style with enough fruit to keep the wine excessively mineral and too austere. Not the most complex nor the most memorable effort, but at only 6,55€ shows good value. Great everyday white for hot summer days.
