  • I am really disappointed in this bottle. Was expecting Bordeaux, and what I got was Amarone. Too sweet and fat. Must be way past it’s prime

  • A great Bordeaux blend. Noticed a note of pepper on first sips that went away as the wine opened up (didn't expect that - but actually a great taste). Decanted for 90 minutes - could have sat a bit longer, but we were thirsty.

  • Started off very tired and dull and I was worried it was over the hill. There seemed to be an off balance of the acidity overpowering what little fruit was left and there was virtually no mid-palate. After about 15-20 minutes this started to come around giving a much fuller profile with some nice dark fruits coming through. Turned out to be a very good bottle but I have to believe that this is on it's decline so I would drink up if you have some. A good experience but somewhat disappointing compared to the younger (2009) bottles I've had and loved. This is similar to the 2003 showing about a year ago.

  • Strong chocolate and blood on the nose, which follows on the palate. This was better with food (braised goose). On its own it is still a bit too rich and reduced for me. There is a bit of acidity, but not enough to get rid of the somewhat flat taste on the palate. Still not sure what I think of FP yet. Maybe with some more age it will settle down? 88

Day 2 -- much much better. Still chocolate, but many other flavors -- hints of red fruits, allspice, and other delicious flavors. This jumps now to a 92.

  • Lovely nose of syrupy tart cherries, with hints of roasted meats,. Flavor follows the nose, with additional hints of marzipan, black cherries, with some nice acidity to lift the finish. A few hours later this was sometimes interesting and complex; and other times a bit of a muddled fruit bomb. Maybe more time in the bottle will resolve it? I wanted to like this, but sort of split on it.
