  • This was drinking well tonight, and I actually think it could go a few more years for my taste, but alas, it is my last bottle. Interesting the difference from the last bottle in 2011 though. Deep crimson color. Still needed a little air time in glass and bottle to even out a bit, but some nice aged cedar aroma coming through, along with earth, mushroom, dried spices, red flowers, and black cherry. Medium body with medium+ acid and finish, and flavors of dark red fruits and notable spice that lingers through the finish and beyond, and the alcohol seems to be pretty integrated at this point. Overall, this is helping fuel my realization that aging zins is really the way to go (for my palate). I wish I had another bottle or two to see what happens, but oh well.

Edit: So I poured almost half the bottle into a 375 and popped it in the fridge. Meant to drink it the next day but ended up having a glass each at 3 and 5 days later, and today's was my favorite. Upped the score a point. Reminds me a little bit of some '97 Turleys I had recently. I really wish I had more of these to age for 3–5 more years. Yum.

  • Last and best bottle of the lot. I am surprised that it lasted this long but that goes to show that proper cellaring makes a difference. A real treat.

  • This was delicious. Wonderful dark fruit with the typical peppery finish. Much fresher than I would have expected for the date.

  • Not as good as the last two bottles. Was disappointed. Tannins were a bit rough and detracted from overall experience. Not sure what to make of it - if this was an off bottle. One more left, we'll see what the next bottle is like.

  • All sorts of black fills the nose- black currant, blackberry, black pepper, and black licorice. The palate largely matches, with the blackberry and licorice taking the forefront and subtle spice underneath. Integrated acid/tannins. Drinking great now; should last though not necessarily improve over the next couple.
