Sensational. Dark ruby color. Lovely nose, very reminiscent of a classy BDx with some leather. Mouthfeel was epic: smooth, round, supple. This is why you age wine. On the palatte it was ringing with red fruit, dark cherry, kirsch. The wine left us feeling utterly satisfied. It was just awesome.
Mostly Northern Rhone dinner (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Upon opening, explosive nose of sweet ripe black fruits, blackberries, black cherry, cornucopia of flowers, light caramel, sweet spices, heavy cream/butter and roasted almonds. Incredibly polished palate, silky and sensual, nicely integrated tannins and seamless long finish. This is all about finesse and expressive nose. I can drink this all day and night.
Stunning! If one note could sum up this wine, that works. If you need to know more, the catchy, earthy, spicy, smoky perfume is complicated by licorice, caramel, cherry griotte, black raspberries and floral notes. The wine is soft, silky, sensuous and sexy, ending with close to 60 seconds of fruit, exotic textures, spice and freshness. Great now, this is going to be insane later.
