Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 93.2 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 11 notes)

Tasted by Richard Jennings on 1/22/2009 & rated 93 points: Syrah Tasting Dinner with Shane Syrahs and others (Lavanda Restaurant, Palo Alto, California): Light orange color; orange, blood orange and honey nose; very tasty, ripe blood orange, orange and light honey palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (541 views)
Tasted by bsherwin on 12/31/2008: A beautiful, tropical nose of smoky poached pears and apricots becomes ponderous on the palate for lack of acidity. As usual, a Kracher that approximates a Michael Bay movie; you are going to enjoy yourself, but leave no wiser. (591 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 5/31/2008 & rated 95 points: This is absolutely stunning right now. Loads of tropical and floral notes. Perfect acidity. Long finish that is wonderfully sweet without being cloying. (679 views)
Tasted by JeffGMorris on 3/4/2008 & rated 91 points: Dinner at Rue Cler with Steve, Barb & Bill H. Orange is the theme on this wine - orange/amber in colorand loads of orange sensations on the nose. Clearly botrytis influenced and showing that in spades at the moment. Clearly sweet but not cloying. Long finish. 50+13+12+8+8 = 91 (730 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 1/3/2007 & rated 93 points: Tried this at LostVerse's house. It had been opened for a few days (maybe a week or more). Still holding up very well although it may have lost a little something in that time. Tropical and good concentration. 92-93 points. (1590 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 12/18/2006 & rated 94 points: Similar notes to the last bottle, but a little more floral at this time. Holding beautifully. (1346 views)
Tasted by Tejano on 9/9/2006 & rated 94 points: Eight wines and eight courses.... (Cafe Jorge "Mi Casa"): A beautiful and light sense of a darkened gold in color, with a delightful floral essence backed by candied and ripe fruit. Delicious elegance that was rich, but not over the top, with a nice acidic balance and a light grip that had a generous hang time on the end. A nice finish with a: Cabernet Sauvignon Poached Pear with Saigon Cinnamon and Tahitian Vanilla Bean infused Mascarpone Cream...and a little of the "ver jus" reduction from the poaching liquor. (1912 views)
Tasted by thelostverse on 8/27/2005 & rated 94 points: I brought this to Otis' CDP and was not disappointed. Lovely mouthfeel that coated the insides like fine cream. Loads of candied fruits and floral notes that went on and on. This wine struck me as remarkably youthful both in appearance and taste. Glad to have 3 more to hold for some years. (2073 views)
Tasted by JeffGMorris on 5/12/2005 & rated 90 points: Dinner at Zely & Ritz with Dale & Alisha. Bright copper in color, this was well integrated with raisins, apricots and honey and a very long finish. Perfect with the apple and caramel based dessert Sarig created for us. 50+12+12+8+8 = 90 (2471 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 11/26/2003 & rated 95 points: Consumed at Tapenade with creme brulee. Bottle taken from my personal cellar. Bright disc. Deep rust/gold robe with clear rim. Clean nose, showing very intense aromas of apricots, peaches, white pears and orange peel. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a syrupy texture and excellent acidity to balance the intense sweetness. The flavors follow the nose, and the finish lingers for more than 90 seconds. (1005 views)
Tasted by Joe Belmaati on 9/7/2002 & rated 93 points: Golden, amber. Abricot and chocolate truffle notes rising from the glass. Very fat, full and flowy. And very, very sweet. But very nicely built into a framework that contained enough acidic bite, so that the wine didn't become vulgar or "over-the top". A very generously sized wine with a great structure, and enough personality to keep things interesting. Long, balanced aftertaste. VERY GOOD. (2818 views)
