Decanted 90 minutes. Intense blue fruits, smoke and some cedar on the nose. On the palate, rich sweet blueberry compote, licorice and some minerality. Surprisingly strong acid/tannin on the finish. A very fine syrah, but the overt sweetness of the fruit was a slight drawback. Seems at peak, or maybe just beginning to decline. Recommend drink this year!

Opened two bottles (decanted and returned directly to bottle, 2 hrs) for a wine tasting event with 17 wines. The Rattlesnake blew everyone away! I was worried it might be too far gone, but it was in fact better than in its youth. The big-shouldered teenager full of power had mellowed and was more complex, with the fruit still shining through. If you have stored it well, this will be a treat! I wish I'd had an '04 Languedoc next to it...

Still going strong but slightly diminished on the finish. Maybe has past its peak. Still very enjoyable. Have 3 more. Will report back.
