TN: Huet Fete V: 1924-1959 (Racines, NYC): Unfortunately, a flawed bottle as it's dominated by fungal flavors and aromas with plastic overtones. A shame as it's been awhile since I last had the '59 Demi and I was looking forward to the check in. NR.

Huets... 1959 and older (Racines, NYC): A bit compact and attenuated, not really giving much on the nose. A bit mushroomy on the palate with some anise notes. Others in attendance have had better bottles of this and I can only assume this is not a representative bottle. Not rated.

Deep gold in colour. Floral notes again on the nose, tea leaves, apples, wool, herbs, spices. Lots of depth and complexity. On the palate bright acidity, even a bit harsh, baked apples, lime fruit. Intense finish, very nice length. 90-92
Wow. Sometimes words just can't express how good a wine is and this is the case here. The color is just a beautiful yellow golden with light copper hues. The nose and palate are incredibly fresh and pure and to think this is a 54 years old wine is just crazy. So complex and mineral. Herb tea, smoke, persimmon, apricot, apple, honey and so much more. Pretty rich for a demi sec (this is '59) but balanced by a great acidity. Never tiring. One of the very best Chenin I ever drunk.
