Another Amazing older Cali Syrah from Kongsgaard. Tasted wish several syrah/rhone wines. This one held up very nicely over the 2 hours it was opened, showing no signs of falling off. Very Rhone like, mild iron, anise & currant nose, wet rocks/mineral mid hint of white pepper layered over fruit. Light brick at the edge of the murky garnet colored wine. Finish was showing it's age, but I would have to say that the wine was just in the right place. Nicely balanced. Tasted next to 89 Beaucastel, 85 Cote-Rotie E.Guigal , and 85 Cornas A.Clape. Also the 2002 Kongsgaard syrah was there showing simular qaulities and style. I'm happy and sad that this was my last one, but I think it better to enjoy them on the way up.

14.1% alcohol. This is showing remarkably well. A frankly stunning wine. Dark red color, not showing its age except perhaps by a slight lightening over the years. Gorgeous nose of red and black fruit, flowers, and a meaty edge. In the mouth, a peppery note shows up with the pure, concentrated, and perfectly balanced fruit profile. Caressing, with excellent palate presence. This is a true delight, with a finishing kick that sends it to another level. A

It needs an hour to open up, but shows like a cab. I'd say, drink em up if ye got em. Paired with rack of lamb, went really nice. WOW!!!
