First wine from 8 oldies we bought at a cellar sale. $10. A fair bit of oxidation, but not offensive. Lots of black fruit, smoke, tar, and leather on the nose. Not something to write home to Mom about, but not too shabby for a 57 year old wine. Cheers!

Past it's prime, no fruit left and has been cooked some time in its life. Not many redeeming qualities left to speak of. I'd describe it like a horse that had been ridden hard and put away wet and had the nose to match.
Given time for the sulphurous odour of barnyard shit to blow off there was still no improvement. In fact it was so lacking in backbone it needed a defib and a pair of crutches to climb out of the bottle.
Coupled with acidity levels that were approaching industrial cleaning strength I'm sure this old girl would now only be of oenological interest to someone who has spent 6 weeks lost in the desert subsisting exclusively on a diet of fingernails and urine. Clean your fine vitreuos china, not your stomach.

On the other side of fading, with much of the fruit gone. Better on the nose, with its mint, tobacco leaf, spice, cigar box, and bright red fruits than on the crisp, rustic, and overly acidic palate, drink up if you have any, as it is only going to get worse from here. Drink from 2022-2022.

Mid-week get together - dinner/drinks (Peach Garden OCBC Centre): This, on the other hand (as opposed to the '67 Haut-Brion) was "smokin". Label was in quite pristine condition. This was also PnP'ed... but what a wonderful nose - secondary/tertiary flavours, earth, ash, leather. Palate was an elegant one... almost "zen". Some fruits was still evident. Nice, silky, and commendable length for a wine this old. This was most enjoyable!
