I purchased this Ex-Chateau Bordeaux from Total four years ago and shoved it behind other bottles in my cellar. Although I usually do not purchase bottles this old, I thought that it would interesting to try a mature "chateau aged" Bordeaux. I was surprised how easily It's cork came out; fully intact and with very little seepage. Although I did not decant this wine, I let it breath for two hours. This Bordeaux has a dark garnet/purple color and a nose of leather, earth, and fading fruit. As for its taste, It has lost most of its fruit, mostly damson plum remains, along with musty oak. This wine is medium bodied with a short to moderate finish. Tannins are very soft. I don't know whether this St. Emilion was ever a good wine, but it's at the the end of its drinking window now. No rating given.

Decent bottle of wine. Drank at a party with the big boys (1989 Latour, 1985 Cos d'Estournel, 2005 Gloria, etc). Frankly the difference was minimal - this bottle while not great is a great QPR.

Good mature color. The nose is quite lovely, showing flowers, berries, leather, cedar and a hint of minerals. On the palate, this is medium full bodied with good concentration and good elegance. The finish is medium plus length with good acidity and totally integrated tannins. Very good and completely mature.

A bit pruney, with a little bit of cherry and cigar smoke. A little musty and a little bit of pepper. Light, and a bit astringent for its age.

this ship has sailed already...very little fruit left and really no tannins to give it any grip or volume. Meh.
