24 year old zin! Woohoo! I thought this was shot when I first opened it because the nose seemed a bit maderized and nutty. But remarkably, this improved with air, and drank very well over three evenings. Sure, it's got some heat on the finish, and the nose is mostly walnut skin, raisins and kirsch, but the palate is quite nice. Ripe, yes, but still fresh, and showing cherry, brambly blackberry and red currant fruit. An interesting experience, especially for a $20 auction purchase.

Spicy nose of white and Szechuan pepper. I'm not kidding - I actually went to my spices and smelled them next to the wine. Enjoying the dried cranberry, raisin, and wild strawberry flavor with a still present tannin that ties it together. Enjoy.

Well developed Zinfandel. The color is not very dark anymore. The nose has still lots of berries and sweet spices, such as cinnamon. Palate is intense and the finish is long and hot (alcohol).

Matured but full of life and warm enough for a cold night in New York. Went great with 9F. Felt like a warm leather coat with its pockets full of red berries. Zinful finish.
