Secondary aromas dominate the nose with earthiness, old wood varnish, underbrush, dust, iron wrapped around dark cherries, raspberries, old leather, licorice, smoked bacon, herbs, and exotic spices. A light bodied wine packed with flavor showing sour cherries, raspberries on entry, the midpalate reveals dark chocolate, licorice, and mouth searing acidity. The finish is of moderate length with woody flavors, herbs, black pepper, and chewy tannins. This wine is at its peak, the fruit is starting to fade, drink up soon!
Rusty red, slightly murky, no brown. Black berries, earthy, hint of iron, black cherry, a little spice, Fleshy, broad, but with a crisp finish and some nice fine lingering tannins. Forest fruits, plum, leathery notes. Has softened but still a big mouthful of delicious wine. Won't improve, ageing gracefully though.
