  • Still pale with green tinge even at 17. Grapefruit aromas somewhat tamed with a some apple and almost a hint of apricot. very slight oiliness in mid palate, long and savoury finish still with good acidity.

Overall much more like white Borrdeaux than in-your-face NZ SavB. Quite lovely with food.

Shame it is my last from this vintage…no risk of fast fade

  • 14 yea me old cloudy Bay!
Very pale green gold colour. Looks so young.
Still some green peppers in the nose but it’s moving into vegetal asparagus. Then there’s an almost Riesling like kerosene note. Whisper of vanilla.
On the palate super tangy with cooked grapefruit and preserved lemon. A little green pepper and fills out with some floral honey notes.
    Finish goes a little toasty.
Well this is fun. Cloudy Bay can age with such grace and this is easily good for another few years. Would love to see where it goes.

  • I've kept this bottle far longer than I should, but it has been stored in temperature controlled conditions since release. Didn't know what to expect, but pleasantly surprised. Whilst very mature, still a typical NZ sauvignon and good fruit on the palate.

  • distinctly mature, now revealing more of the semillon notes. no longer exhibiting green freshness but more nutty minerality

  • Honeydew to gooseberry nose with notes of peas, pepper, petrol, cucumber, honey, tangerine and bread. Ripe but not very intense fruit.
Dry and medium bodied palate with buttery touch and balanced mid-level acidity. Green fruit to tropical, gooseberries and tangerine, herbs and menthol lift. Good length.
Very nice and quite like a good riper Chardonnay.
