4th Saturday Group brown bagger (M/M thelostverse): Fairly dark color with aromas of cherry, spice, dried leaves and bouillon. Medium-bodied with flavors of dark fruit and cherry. Ripe fruit and prune notes evident in the bouquet and on the palate.
Decanted very briefly off its sediment, rebottled & vacuvinned about 2.5 hours prior to the tasting, stopper removed 45 minutes prior to this flight.

4th Saturday Group. Tasted blind. Opened by Allred. Very light color, showing age with some bricking and a dusty nose. Nose had a bit of prune, red and black fruits with dusty tannins. Guessed old Syrah. I would drink this now if I had any left.

This wine weighs in at 14.2% alcohol and has an orange rim with a brick red center. The nose pours out mint, dark raspberry, and chocolate as it opens in the glass. In the mouth, there is tart cranberry and eucalyptus, but the drying tannins take over and clamp down on the flavors giving the wine a clipped feel. Structurally, the tannins have ousted the fruit, and while there is some nice, tart cranberry initially, the tannins overwhelm the mid-palate. The finish is tough, but this is a 12 year old wine that is quite big-boned and tired.

A bit faded, but still beautiful.
