Another zero brett bottle (love brett, but as the wine ages, better off with less). Still has that beautiful cherry and mineral nose I remember from when it was younger. Acids have mellowed a touch, but still really well balanced and still sporting an impressively long and elegant finish. I imagine this can look forward to several more years of graceful ageing.

I've tasted 7 or 8 bottles of this wine in the last 6 years, all purchased from the same source. My experiences have ranged from zero brett, to pleasantly bretty, to one bottle that was undrinkably bretty. I enjoy the complexity that moderate brett can bring to a wine. The bottle I am tasting currently has zero brett. It has aged incredibly well. Intensely perfumed cherry nose, elegantly light mid palate with good minerality, and a long satifying finish with earthy tones but still lively acidity. This wine was a fantastic buy.

If Beaujolais were made in a rustic cellar in Gigondas this would be the resulting wine. There's lots of berry and cherry fruit, but also herbs and the distinct aromas of old leather, sweaty saddle and well-fertilized earth. While I happen to like the overall impression, this is not exactly what I am looking for in Beaujolais.

(Thevenet Morgon Vieilles Vignes) It was very bretty on the nose. Like a Beaucastel made from Gamay. I liked it. But I like the smell of animal feces in wine. The palate was nice but for me a bit lacking in focus. Good wine I am sure but I will try it on another day. It gets the big 'ol JD

Assorted Wines at Peach & the Porkchop (Peach & the Porkchop, Roswell, GA): Ripe pure gamay accented by earth and leather, it's gorgeous and in a really good place right now. It's worth noting that I found pretty much no brett, which apparently can be an issue with this wine.

This is so bretty as to be essentially undrinkable, at least if you are looking to drink wine.
