I bought this bottle on release, and it has been stored appropriately. There was slight evidence of cork leakage. The cork blew to pieces when I tried to extract it carefully using an Ah-so. There was just a hint of some immediate funk on the nose and palate. I decanted the bottle twice and removed quite a bit of sediment. Within an hour or so the funk disappeared, and wine was pleasant. The color was dark and there was a fair amount of mature fruit. It was past its prime but fun to drink.

Saturday Night hit and miss; 9/2/2023-9/3/2023: Following the previous disappointment I thought I’d give the other bottle a try - to check my palate as much as anything. The nose isn’t quite as expressive as the last one was on opening, but there’s stuff going on a hint of funk that passes, some bramble, some heather and a surprisingly vibrant fruity note. On the palate, still some tannin there, decent acidity, opens up with air gets a little more complexity, a little more length.

Saturday Night hit and miss; 9/2/2023-9/3/2023: Picked up cheap as part of a mixed lot. Cork was leaking so I thought i’d open it to make space in the rack. A lovely nose that makes promises the palate doesn’t quite keep, but still a lovely if austere wine. Over a few minutes the little bit of bottle funk doesn’t blow off but in fact grows. Is it? Yes, yes it is. The c*rk fairy has struck. Still - I have space back in the rack now.

Taste: The feel is medium bodied with medium acidity and fine-grained, medium tannins. The feel is refined and balanced with dark red cherries, cranberries, bell peppers, herbs, tobacco, and leather.
Overall: This is a spot-on mature bordeaux. It is well balanced and possesses good depth across the nose and palate.
