I have had this twice from a 750. Both times I had similar feelings - this is good but nor great. And not the same 'wow' I get from most of Manfred's creations. Deep dark color, somewhat muted taste. It wants to be bigger but somewhat restrained. Have a magnum left. Hope it shines. Given the price of this wine at auctions ($1200 or more) I would be careful. Mercifully I bought mine many many years ago.
Purchased at retail, so what Manfred was thinking when he numbered this bottle, can't say. Not a hundred point block buster. This does not slap you and demand your attention. Like sliding into my 91 MR2, confortable, moves like Jagger. Nose is faint but distinct, has that SQN stink. Color, still black as ink. First sip, watered down, but in sink, pleasant wrap of leather and fruit. Another sip, mind drifts away. I remember my departed friends that can't share this day. Another sip, just a hint of sweetness, than leather, than that tell tale essence, the ghost of SQN whispering back. I love this shit. Sometimes less is more, take what comes say no more.
