HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): Seems advanced. Honey, botrytis, and tart fruit on the nose. Very rich and sweet on the palate; plenty of concentrated honey notes with flavours of apricots. Not too thick on the palate texturally, but just downright delicious.
Tasted blind. If wine 5 was the most difficult to pinpoint this might have been right behind it. The color on this was brown, which made me think it was a lot older than it actually was. On the nose I got a lot of honey and botrytis. This was a fuller bodied white, I think the sweetness added a little body with flavors of apple and honey. It ended with an impressive finish. I guessed a Semillon. Although it tasted fine I am guessing it was kept in less than ideal storage conditions because I don’t believe it should have been that brown at this age but I could be wrong. I gave this 92 points and it got WOTN.
