This wine has gotten pretty low marks from most who have tasted it. I am not in that camp. While certainly not a blockbuster, this is a wine of purity and just ripe essence that to me is a better dinner companion that most of the heavy handed wines on the market today. Enough of my editorial. Ruby to pink/clear at rim. The nose (certainly this wine’s best feature) is classic Cote de Beaune – voluptuous sweet cherry, forest grasses and a streak of mineral. Less compelling on the palate. Light, just ripe and in need of a good two to three hours air to round out. This is certainly on the edge of flavor ripeness, but it does get there. Good purity and a very decent drink. I enjoy this wine much better than the academic score I attribute to it. (87)

Very pretty and earthy nose tricks you into thinking this will be a knockout, but the wine tastes pinched and the wall of drying tannin is worse than a Howell Mtn Cab.

A bit stern and austere right now. Quite tannic - hard. Cool fruit. Medium body. The 2000 was better.
