Very dark reddish purple in color, nearly opaque. Nose of dark fruit- black cherry, plum, blackberry and dusty, earthy aromas, also. Dark & brooding palate is dominated by cherry and earth. Quite tannic & edgy, a little bitter on the finish, which falls off rather quickly. CT lists average value of about $14; paid 5 bucks from bin ends. This is one of those examples of a wine which is much more pleasant & appealing on the nose than the palate.

@ Purple Cafe, Woodinville WA. A deep, inky red wine. The Winelibrary TV guy would definitely say this "brings the thunder" but I found it a bit over-done when compared to the other old-world wines I was tasting this night. It's more new-world in the full extraction, tooth-staining richness, and round flavours. Still, this is very pleasant, smooth and velvety stuff.

Ruby colored. Fruity nose. Medium bodied and lean. Dry with juicy dark berries. Limited lenght. Good with our beef stew but a little disappointing. (D7,F4;Natl)

Smells like chianti with its earthiness - but the taste is of licorice/plummy goodness. Lots of acidity, great food wine. Would buy again for $15.

Dreyfuss Abbey Tasting: Farily basic nose that would be indistinguishable from many wines. Some cherries and rasberries. Acidic, and slightly green.
