Bottom shelf find at a rural liquor/wine shop. Cork was dried out, crumbling and a mess to extract. I've had plenty of wines at 10 years of age, and never a cork in this bad shape. Surprisingly, the wine was very much typical Syrah. Smoked bacon, lavender, and blackberry, with the mellowness of texture provided by some age. Storage was not ideal, clearly, but this was really very good, cork aside.
