  • Overall: Drink up, this wine is starting to decline. Didn’t really need a decant and honestly it started to fall off a few hours after opening.

Appearance: light garnet, transparent, bricking around the rim; fairly light, really pretty color

Nose: dark notes, very tertiary. Leather, spices, some plum. Menthol. Earthy “wet forest”. Just a hint of mulled wine notes, like spices and orange rind. It does almost smell a little sweet as well.

Palate: tannins are resolved, very little acidity left. This tastes a bit tired and probably was better younger. It’s almost got sweet dark fruit flavors - raisins, plums, dried fruit - a bit like an oxidized wine. Everything is very well integrated. The low acidity takes this out of the 90 point range for me - it’s just not balanced.

    Finish: medium, dry, low acid

  • This is delicious. Fully mature. Sappy red fruits, roses, with resolved tannins.

  • Drank this after it had about an hour of air and the temperature was not too far from 55. Last glass from a coravined bottle. I drank half this w/out any food and the latter w/ a Tallegio cheese. The cheese helped refresh my palate & made the wine feel a lot sharper (not harsh, but on point).
Medium body. Kept at a slightly lower temperature, the tannins still keep this very focused, with a nice touch of acidity. Very varietally true. Great nose w/ loads of rose petals & more. There were a whole slew of flavors coming through, especially at the back of my palate: crunchy red fruits, maybe a hint of clove. This also had a long, subtle finish.
This didn't show any signs of change in the 2 hours that I was drinking it. I recall the first glass (6 months ago) being pretty sappy. Then, it was fine, but not entirely in balance. This time it was as good as I could have imagined. GV, would buy again.
