At Momofuku Ssam Bar NYC. Gritty and beautiful dark violet color. Big nose of menthol and chocolates with fruit preserves. Glorious Pomerol velvet mouthfeel with a fine balance of bright fruit, 18 years on, and wood. Such a great wine, especially at this QPR.

Decanted for 4 hours. Continued to evolve and open up for another 4. Magnificent mouth feel. Lively acidity with wonderfully integrated tannins. Black fruit, cedar and forest floor. Superb. Will continue to improve and mature for decades.

Slow ox’ed for 3 hours. Drank at Crystal Springs. A gorgeous St. Julien-like nose, beautifully integrated tannins, forest floor, aged cherries with less fruit and more velvet. Long, lingering finish that went for a minute. Definitely peak of window drinking now. This is the second best Tuscan Merlot after Masseto - above Redigaffi and a hair above L’Apparita.

Altough there is no reason anymore to wait, The wine is still very nice: velvety and tannines fully integrated.
