Drinking well right now. Nicely balanced. Good fruit, spice, leather, cigar, vanilla, and dried earth. A great match for meatloaf. Tannins still kicking but not too harsh on the palate. Smooth finish. Has a few left as a guess but if I had any more they'd get killed soon.
Decanted about 2 hours. Some big red fruit muted slightly by the blend of Merlot and PV. It still held its Cabbiness and drank very nicely with a big rib-eye. Flavors of cherry and earth, a little hint of smoke and leather. The finish didn't last long but was enjoyable.
About the nose, Rand says, "I don't get food, and I don't get plastic..." I get leather and cooked, cooked fruits. Dirty in a nice way. The palate is similarly dirty, as in soil or a little tar. I agree with ecola -- bordeaux-like with a little extra sunshine. The finish is moderately long - very pleasant. Still a couple of minutes have passed by, and it lingers on!
