A very fine rendition of Chard from an important vyd in the Santa Ynes area. Balanced, not overly-buttery, fine fruit gleaming thru but balanced well with an acid backbone. Of course I wish I had more. Gifted from the winemaker, along with Brian's Keefer Chard from the same vintage...I'd be hard-pressed to say which I liked better.

Drank side by side with the 05 Clos Pepe Estate Chard and this had noticably more oak on the nose to me - creamy vanilla and butter along with some nice limstone and strawberry. Oak was not as noticable on the palate, with some nice sweet pears and peach notes and a smooth finish. Just lacked a touch of the verve and acidity of the Clos Pepe estate.

This bottle opened the 2008 "dinner on the deck" season. Lovely melon and grass (Michael's adjectives) and for me, citrus with a perfect balance of acidity. Yummy!

Forward fruit profile with medium body and citrus fruit and lemon zest. Long finish with the acidity in balance with the fruit. Just enough oak to round off this wine.

Lovely wine to enjoy on the 2nd day of summer weather we have had this season. Nice mix of pear and minerality.
