  • Valentines 2024 solo Coravin, pnp.
Aromas of black raspberry. Medium garnet color. Palate is still dense and lots of opacity to the flavors. Iodine, medium plus acid freshness. Balanced by that density. In a good spot to start, let’s see where it goes…
Coming up on 20 min in glass and this is OOS (not out of stock). The darkest black cherry aroma. Harmonious. Depth, and breadth. Earth, licorice, truly marvelous.
An hour in, now doubt this is astounding. Aromas sur point.

Day 2 from a left over. More rustic. A wall of tannin today, may I say a full of tannin. More maturity shows too. But still pleasant.

Finished the coravin'd bottle a week later. Excellent at the end of tomato pasta. Still in the same frame as Day 2. Day 1 was extraordinary and leveled out after that.

    Color gets a little gravelly.

  • Very good Chianti Rùfina from one of the best vineyards in the area. Still quite young colour with a bit brick red at the rim. Typical Bucherchiale-nose of dark cherries, raw meat, farmyard and some integrated oak. Very fine tannins, balanced acidity and a strong cherry fruit makes this a pleasure to drink. Could have stayed some more years but this was my last bottle bought at the winery in 2003.

  • A FRESH cherry aroma. Arrestingly fresh. Sois bois and a little medicinal aroma. VERY promising at the cork pull. Some bricking at the rim. A tannic stain on the inside of the bottle. Cork is pretty dry. On the palate, POW!!! Mouth-coating plump texture, medium gritty tannin. Palate shows more earth and maturity than the nose initially. Mushroom to the aroma, something along the line of kernel. Finish for days. Bouquet of aroma. Arresting. Very present tannin, but still feels medium. Absolutely killer at the cork pull.

  • Pale purple and crystal clear in the glass. Sweet on the nose. Very mature, but perfect. Very long. Little or no tannin evident: the structure seemingly all from acidity. A fantastic old Chianti.

  • Verticale Chianti Rùfina Fattoria Selvapiana (Radisson, Roma): Frutto dolce, mentolato, rose macerate, gustosissimo forse un po' corto rispetto ai precedenti ma molto profumato. Questo ha più un carattere da artista.
