  1999 is generally considered a great vintage in Burgundy.
  From that perspective, this wine is a little underwhelming.
  There are surely signs of good ripeness, but it lacks the length and intensity, you would expect from this great vineyard site.
  Ironically, from this producer who used to shy away from new oak, the oak is far too present here; something you don't often have to worry about in Burgundy.
  I cannot consider this a classic G-C wine.
  Not going to improve.

  A wonderful, classic mid priced burgundy. Cork in perfect shape, barnyard nose immediately after opening but gone in half hour to reveal red fruit nose. Bright raspberry and cherry fruit and the acidity provided nice structure that lasted over a couple of days. Even after two days the wine was very good with the red fruit still there with a little spiciness to perk things up. Wonderful!

  great bottle for sure, repeated unsolicited comments from my dinner guests that they really liked it / wanted to know what it was, this had plenty of fruit and also plenty of cinnamon taste and texture, fruitier and less meaty than i might have expected for GC Combe aux Moines, also rounded and without the '99 acid profile i would have expected… peak now and wouldn't think you should wait too much longer (i.e. drink in next 2-3 years)
