  • Massive sediment. Still a very large wine with softer but still heavy tannins and a dark fruit profile. Not our style in general but still quite drinkable.

  • This was a surprisingly good bottle of wine. Decanting for sediment, the wine had a rich, full nose of lush dark fruit with an interesting spice, eucalyptus and misc. herb nose--though mostly dominated by fruit. Soft palate with integrated, smooth tannins. Medium finish. Drink this wine over the next year.

  • Excellent straight out of the bottle. Aromas of blackcurrant liqueur framed by woody, brambly notes, menthol, violets and a touch of leather. Dense, fat, creamy black fruits with a touch of medicinal oak. Just a kiss of tannin on the finish, which has great length and minimal heat. An amazing value at $10 a bottle. This wine did fade a little after being open a couple of hours, so I would recommend drinking in the next few years.

  • Continues to develop well. This bottle showed the dense cassis fruit I remembered from release. Anise and leather secondary characteristics. The downside is a finish that is a little hot and chalky.

  • This wine is starting to come around after a couple of recent disappointments. On day one the nose was dominated by smokey, chocolate aromas. The mouthfeel was dense with bright currant and cherry. Half a bottle was left in the fridge for three days and emerged with rich charcoal, cassis on the nose. Intense black currant and chocolate flavors. Unfortunately, even after 3 days the finish is a little hot and disjointed - hopefully another 2+ years will smooth it out.
