| | Tasted by Skip4wine on 11/30/2011 & rated 92 points: A straight forward CA cab. Nothing stands out but the balance is great, the fruit a little forward and the tannins in check at this point. Not memorable but still a good bottle (1217 views) |
| | Tasted by hanasowner on 9/9/2011 & rated 93 points: Showed really well after about 30 minutes of air. Upstaged a 2008 Pride. (1475 views) |
| | Tasted by bin905 on 8/29/2011 & rated 90 points: Seemed a little heavy on the toasted oak this time. (1507 views) |
| | Tasted by yayinski on 6/15/2011 & rated 90 points: Classic napa cab. Big and juicy with chewy tannins and notes or ripe dark fruit, cassis, menthol, and some toasty cream. Ready to be consumed although some decanting helps (1824 views) |
| | Tasted by hoservin on 6/11/2011 & rated 91 points: 2 hour decant. Blackberry, cherry, currant, plum, cedar, and vanilla notes on the nose and palate. Medium bodied and well balanced with good structure. A long velvety finish with nicely integrated soft tannins. Drinking well at this time. (1866 views) |
| | Tasted by runner5 on 2/26/2011 & rated 88 points: Like others have said, fruit forward, some oak, a little chocolate on both nose and palate. Initially, the nose wasn't that strong, but after a short decant, it was apparent. Priced well for Napa cab, but the QPR is average. (2288 views) |
| | Tasted by bin905 on 2/25/2011 & rated 91 points: Cherry, plum, spice, cedar, and rose petal flavors with ample smooth tannins. Juicy and velvety with a long rich finish. (2055 views) |
| | Tasted by Bobo N on 2/10/2011 & rated 91 points: This wine is much better than when i last tried two years ago. After decant, wine showed tons of fruit (cherry and currant), chocolate, and oak w/ sweet tannins well-integrated. Can wait for several years, but will probably consume over next few months b/c it is hitting its stride now. At the $30 I paid for this upon release, the QPR is good and wish i had bought a full case. (2212 views) |
| | Tasted by Phredd on 1/28/2011 & rated 91 points: NC Cindy tasting. Dark garnet in color, but no real purple component. On the nose, these was once again a slight funkiness, but primarily a good cherry fruit base along with a solid vanilla and oak aspect to back it up. On the palate, this was a relief after all the mediocrity that preceded it. Solid cherry fruit upfront preceding a highly tannic mid-palate. But the tannins, while present and somewhat dominant, were very smooth and still quite drinkable. While it did seem a little alcoholic (14.2% ABV declared), this was a relatively minor quibble. There was some earthy complexity on a finish that, for a change, lasted a good long while. This has plenty of smooth fruit to last while some of the tannins continue to relax, as this still drinks like a pretty young wine. It could easily improve for another year or two, and drink well for 10 more. A candidate for wine of the night, this beat the 2003 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow on the pop and pour, but I think the latter passed it in the end. Retailing for ~$40 at the moment, this is a good buy at that price. (2336 views) |

| | Tasted by bin905 on 9/25/2010 & rated 91 points: Garnet red color. Black cherry, plum and spice box flavors. Well-balanced, good structure, ample tannins with a long rich finish. (2755 views) |
| | Tasted by wfdeacon on 8/13/2010 & rated 90 points: No age problem here. Dark color and fruit on the nose, oak and still a little hot. I have had this stored properly since release, and based on that no rush to comsume. (2904 views) |
| | Tasted by gmbdds on 7/5/2010 & rated 90 points: Much improved over my other bottles so far (87-88 points). More integrated. Smoother, richer and better finish. (3049 views) |

| | Tasted by iamandyc on 5/26/2010 & rated 90 points: This bottle showed the best of the three I consumed recently. For the discounted price, it was very nice. Fruit dominated with ample tannins. Some plum and blueberry on the palate for me. A little overripe.Nice thick texture. (3377 views) |
| | Tasted by A&C on 3/13/2010 & rated 88 points: This is simply ok. Not great. Certainly, not memorable. An every day quaff. (3587 views) |
| | Tasted by jonradus on 3/6/2010 & rated 90 points: There were typical Napa blackcurrants and dark cherry on the nose with some distinctive vanlla oak. The taste has a really nice mouth feel with moderate tannins, tons of red and black fruits, and some vanilla/chocalate swirl. The finish is pretty chocolatey with a slight tannic grip. This wine should show really well in 3 years. Based on my experience with Whitehall Lane cabs, they need to sit for at least 8 years, and at 10 years are even better. (3517 views) |
| | Tasted by vanpe003 on 2/7/2010: 87-90 pts. A bit muddled and simple compared to 2 other '04s opened (Pahlmeyer Red and Keenan Spring Mountain). A perfectly serviceable wine, but nothing profound. Update: while I don't have any detailed notes, this drank much better the second day...less "muddled" and more together. It remains drinkable on Day 4 though some heat on the finish is noticeable, as is a healthy dose of oak/vanilla. Very fruit forward and thick, but without a lot of supporting structure. | | Tasted by Bella27 on 1/23/2010 & rated 89 points: Fruit bomb. Drinks like a solid $40 Napa Cab. (3784 views) |
| | Tasted by AMM3RD on 1/16/2010 & rated 89 points: 88-90Pt Napa Cab. Great value in a TRUE wine, not too much Oak or over ripe fruit. Well balanced Cab. that is real and should be enjoyed with food or by it self. Soft veggies on the palate, green peppers and broccoli that make it interesting. Drink over the next couple years. Perfect right now...AMM (3849 views) |
| | Tasted by Beavis77 on 12/12/2009: Nose is ripe, creamy blackberries. Hint of blackcurrant and a touch of loamy earth. Very smooth on the palate with delicious creamy dark berry fruit. Has a touch of oak on the long finish. (4092 views) |
| | Tasted by winelovr2001 on 11/12/2009 & rated 90 points: Blackberry, cassis, and oak dominate this wine. A great ripe fruit style cabernet that is very smooth with low acid. Not super complex, and I wouldn't age it for a long time...but great in the short term. (4172 views) |
| | Tasted by tplskylrk on 10/12/2009 & rated 90 points: USA Swing Trip; 10/5/2009-10/13/2009 (Columbia & Atlanta): Nice wine. Dark color. Blueberries, milk chocolate, a nice tight wine, decent finish. Well balanced. (4371 views) |
| | Tasted by tendring on 6/8/2009 & rated 94 points: Wine Education Service - The Napa Valley (LSE): Distinct signs of age. Some development evident on the nose, fruity with attractive oak and some jammy notes. Very sweet fruity attack, some oak, very soft tannins, needs food, chocolate and cherry notes, good length. (4812 views) |
| | Tasted by AMM3RD on 5/26/2009 & rated 89 points: Popped and Poured, this wine should have been decanted. Nice Cabernet flavors on the slightly dry frame. Green peppers and some oak, not overwhelming. Good Napa fruit, but still needs some time. Well made and certainly a good QPR. Enjoy over the next 5 years...AMM (4673 views) |
