  • Tasted blind - A dense and inky dark fruit core with hints of kirsch. Structured green stems, black cherry fruits, peppery fruits with a rustic touch. Initially I thought it was a rich Burgundy from the stemmy 2004 vintage (Yves Gangloff style can be confusing, most people guessed Burgundy). The peppery stemmy scents reminds me of Cote Rotie, stemmy rich yet graceful. 2005? Cote Rotie? Yves Gangloff?

  • N: Improved over last time. Fern still very present, along with moist soil. Perfumed raspberry emerges after slightly warming up.

Palate is still lacking harmony, with a hollow mid-palate. This is a closed wine with gritty tannins from stems, and high acid. Savoury, with the promise of something if the tannins can calm down.
Hold for 7-10 years before assessing again.

  • Disappointing texture and dominated by fern aromas. Acidic, and lacking any magic. Not certain what to make of it at this stage, but it clearly isnt anywhere near its peak yet.

  • Decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose of bacon underlined with barnyard and some dark fruit. Also giving some floral aspects. Velvety entrance and great mouth. Flavours of dark fruit and leather. Dominating tannins that overtake the palate. 30-40 second finish that gives flavours of cherries and plum as well as a chalky texture. Try again in 15 years. 92-94
