I bought two bottles -- one for New Year's 2000 and one for the millenial New Year. (It was highly touted c1999). It was quite nice, with biscuity character. Not fabulous. (Broadbent low to mid 4 stars, in my view). I have had only a couple of super Champagnes and I found them marginally or not better than a decent Brut.
Off-the-chain!!! Riveting complexity. Layered, liquid magic! Tasted before all the reds, and afterwards...when it showed even better. Easily a top ten Champagne of my lifetime, probably in the top five. Absolutely stunning that a 36-year-old Champagne offered such vivacity. In due deference to the 2010 Domaine de Chevalier, my WOTN of the formal tasting, this was the WOTN of the afternoon and evening. Many thanks to CF for sharing this gem!

The Nearly Annual Lyon 10 Year Retro Tasting (Lyon's Den): This was a glorious wine and so different from the Carneros sparkler (duh...). Imagine candied ginger on the thinnest slices of lemon and pear, placed on buttered toast with honey! Fine mousse and great length. Why wait?

Recent purchase from auction. First CC. Experience is similar to the previous notes - pale gold color, fine bead of bubbles, pretty nose of citrus, ginger, and honey that carries very easily to the palate. Round but fresh and complex. Enjoyable bottle. Year 2000 on the foil. Prefer this over the 2002 and 2004 Dom P2.
