(Louis Michel CHABLIS) Chablis Dear Friends, I hope everyone had a good weekend - I have lots of interesting stories to tell from my trip around northern France over the last three days. More on that later, but in the meantime...here is a wine I had at a picnic lunch on Saturday (overlooking the Canal de Bourgogne, south of Paris). I’ve been going 24/7 for the last three weeks week so I needed a few minutes to just sit by the canal and think about the beautiful afternoon. This wine was poured with no pretension and everyone had their own split to enjoy - something I’ve never seen before. The French like to sit in circles, instead of randomly on a picnic blanket - it ensures that everyone looks into everyone’s eyes and there’s no getting around it. You will become fast friends with your picnic partners even if it is your first meeting. The afternoon made me wonder why more splits of quality wine are not available in the US, an often frustrating conundrum. A discussion ensued about this topic and it turned somewhat argumentative about how Americans never relax, etc (a story we’ve all heard many times - who am I to talk, up at 3:00am writing this - I’ll blame it on continual jet-lag). I stood firm and held up the American ideology and defended our honor - so, it was a draw. There’s not much to say - this offer is not about points so please do not make it so. This is about having a good time on a Sunday afternoon and if you desire a lovely 375ml of delicious white wine to have in reserve when you need it the most, here you go (at a price that is tough to pass up). Almost all of us will find an occasion to open one of these (or many of them) so I was quite excited to find this stash. For some reason, the splits of this wine are not readily available in the US, but I was able to find a perfect parcel that should make many of you very happy come next spring when this wine will really be singing. It has turned out to be a perfect foil to roast chicken or anything your spring or summer afternoon can muster. I had it with rotisserie chicken (poulet roti) and cold lentil salad, with the smallest green French lentils you've ever seen - delicious: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a perfect picnic wine or to satisfy that Monday night curiosity. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the source 2005 Louis Michel Chablis AOC 375ml (BH85-88) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg9882
