Celebrating Ben's birthday (Goosefoot, Chicago IL): Nose: There is a real succulent quality to the nose with layered tones of quince, peaches, apricot, star fruits, and with some racy minerals lying underneath.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium acidity and some very good depth. There is a layered and slightly honeyed feel with tones of quince, peaches, apricots, and some real good mineral tones.
Overall: This is drinking really well. There is good depth and layering with real good balance on both the nose and palate.

Aromas of lychee, grapefruit, with baking spices and smoke. Admittedly, I had remembered reading Tanzer saying something about bacon and marshmallow, which I did find in the nose, but I'm not sure that I would have pulled that out without having it being suggested. Regardless, quite rich and full bodied on the palate but with nice balancing acidity. Good concentration and length. Having had dry Alsatian Gewurztraminers that have gone 10 years without becoming too cloying, I would imagine that this should be able to hold up for at least a few more years. Perhaps the slightly smaller format might affect things (500ml). Went well with scallops with sauteed corn, green beans and cherry tomatoes.

Fabulous wine. Initially tasted a little like pomegranate before warming and opening up. Peach, honey, lanolin. And full bodied but not sweet.
