  • This wine improved in the decanter. Very bright fruit and no semblance of being a 20+ year old wine. Really good finish with nice soft tannins.

  • Rating in line with others. Very good wine. Highlights on the palate, mostly. Very smooth and balanced there, with that 'ethereal' aspect that we like to use from time to time to describe Burgundies. The aromatics are a lesser side-show -- some over-the-hill fruit and stewed aspects, with an occasional whiff of anise. Again, palate better and the fruit belies the aromatics. Not going to improve in this taster's view, and I'm glad we opened it when we did from an overall enjoyment perspective.

  • Translucent garnet with bricking; Burgundy funk or notes of earth and barnyard, cherry, and roses; dusty and grippy, lots of hard cherry, all red fruit, sour cherry liqueur; a little underwhelming on the midpalate but I feel this did not get the air time it deserved; could cellar for many more years.

  • Restaurant decanted and we drank over the course of a 3 hour meal. Completely agree with first reviewer that the aromas on the nose were far more interesting and complex than the initial taste on the palate, but as it opened up over time the red berries, earth, floral notes and minerality really shined through and the wine was elegant and delightful. While obviously not a top flight Grand Cru, great QPR at $60 for me.

  • Penetrating, aromatically complex nose, with layers of crushed red berries, raspberry, red cherry, rose petals. More reticent on the palate, practically reserved at this point. A grip is apparent mid-palate as well. There is piercing, focused red pinot fruit, Beaune profile of red cherry, with floral and mineral notes. Not the fireworks on the palate that there is on the nose, but this is fresh and detailed, albeit quite young and in need of perhaps 3-5 of cellar time.
