  • Decanted 1 hour, enjoyed over 90 minutes and a dinner of thai marinated chicken with homemade "fried" rice (brown rice, shiitake mushrooms, edamame, carrots, egg). Very earthy nose. Amazing consistency of flavors on this wine, tart cranberries, rhubarb, clove, finishes with an herbal quality that is uplifting and very appealing. Very nice wine, wish I had more.

  • Pulled from locker, popped, decanted 30 minutes, enjoyed over a long and luxurious lunch. Wonderful nose of forest, flowers and spice. On the palate, tart cranberry, cherry, clove, allspice and dirt. Kept improving throughout the meal. Nice balance of acidity, fruit and spice. Very good complement to the meal, which was organic red & green Gazpacho with lobster, red onion, diced cucumber, avocado and chive oil followed by duck confit with white navy beans, sauteed spinach and pancetta.

  • San Diego Pinot-fest (Cuvee Restaurant - Del Mar, CA): This was an interesting wine that kept improving in the glass. I suspect that it could have benefited from a more healthy decant. The nose was initially quite tight and dense, with aromas of cracked peppercorn, clove, and tree bark. With time the nose softens up a bit to reveal some wild berries, and the palate offers nice layers of fresh raspberry and cherry fruit. Certainly a wine to keep one's eye on. 89-90 points.
