Brought the magnum to Burgundy in 2014 to drink with Jean Luc Pepin of Comte de Vogue. Unable to drink it and he held it in his cellar for a return visit which occurred last week! Both Jean Luc, his wife Brigette, my wife Linda and myself were all born in 1955. He selected Le Milleseime in Chambolle-Musigny Musigny and the evening was memorable. Catching up on each others families, food and yes this magnum. We decanted it and drank over 3 hrs. Wonderful display for a 68 year old btl. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Wow! Magnums are for real.

Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Initial impression was very positive. This wine needed some time to evolve but it came out of the gate fairly powerful. Not quite as pretty right away as the '47 that we drunk next to it but where the '47 started strong and then shifted more to brett this continued to open up with the black fruits and jam and fig and similar. Very lovely wine and perhaps my favorite of the day.

Beautiful ruby red core with lightening rim. Initial nose a bit musty but after an hour beautiful mature fruit and spice. Similar palate, smooth silky texture delicious lingering finish

Served blind by Paul. Initially a big menthol note, which led a number of us to guess older Rioja. I had joked that when not sure what an old wine is, I guess right bank Bordeaux and....womp womp. I though this very cool on an intellectual level, but I don't think I enjoyed drinking it as much - the fruit had become a bit too madeirized for me.

Low shoulder fill....Remarkable dark ruby color with aging rim. Initial nose was dominated by menthol which blew off after a half hour revealing a lovely mature bordeaux profile, dark fruits, good spice and hints of leather and forrest floor. It continued to open up and improve over the next few hours. A wonderful birth-year bottle
