Drunk side by side with 1999 Maison Bertrand Ambroise Corton-Rognet and the consensus was that Petite Sirah from California and Pinot Noir from Burgundy were practically on the same level! Petite Sirah was mild, well mannered and feminine while the Burgundy was showing hairy balls of a sailor. Where this world going to?

Drank alongside an '01 VA undesignated PS. This was the first release from this vineyard for Vincent Arroyo. The color is dark an brooding, the fruit like a bowl of blueberries. The tannins have softened, giving firm structure without any hints of oak. Ample acids keep the bottle lively, coating the palate to deliver a great mouthfeel and long finish. Many PS have a hollow mid palate; this one delivers the full package. This is a food wine, best paired with grilled meats. THere's plenty of depth and complexity in this bottle, with lots of life left. Drink now through 2016.
