  • This wine was a little past it's peak but still retained some Syrah funkiness on the nose, The early flavors are that of dark fruit as boysenberry and plum. It coats the palate and turns to earthiness, damp forest, and tobacco. It finishes with a prolonged sharp bitter note with a spiciness that lingers for a long time. Still an enjoyable wine if a little quirky.

  • Much more subtle -- in terms of cherry fruit -- than I was expecting. A bit rich and extracted. It all settled down a bit later in the evening. Excellent wine, but my least favorite compared to the 03 coccinelle and the 01 BF.

  • Quite delicious. Part of anniversary trio with Coccinelle and BF of same vintage. As its name implies, a bit more pronounced cherry fruit at first. Opened up nicely later in the day and on day 2. Did not take detailed notes......

  • Decanted five hours. This was simply spectacular with soft and luscious plum fruits and complex layers of goodiness that went fabulously with dishes of roasted quail and lamb cheeks at Fleur D'Sel. Amazing wine and I think the extra decant time really changed the character as we have enjoyed a number of bottles of this in the past. I am convinced that Cayuse really needs 3-4 hours of opening time to really get at the genius of this wine.

  • The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Cherry, Blackberry, Mineral, Toast, Stoniness, and Bell Pepper. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Round texture. The wine finishes Long.
