Followed the 89 Ch Meyney last night with steak at Fogo de Chao, not decanted. Very strong nose, quite oaky, sweet with deep berries and jam. It tasted like an aussie shiraz, very fruit forward, quite sweet, a little overoaked. It's still pretty tannic and has acid in balance. There's a slight bitterness on the finish, detracting from the overall experience.
Hold it if you have it. It is a good bottle of wine, but IMO would improve if it was given a few more years, although I'm not sure it'll ever drop the bitterness.
