  • interesting syrah...fruit was not over extracted in a modern way but just gobs of fruit...odd. was not bad but not my preference as lacked mouthfeel and balance/acidity.

  • Lots of dark, ripe fruit on the nose. Dark berries, cherry. Still a pleasant bit of tannins, but most have subsided. A very good wine, but can't imagine this has all that much more life left.

  • Exuberant nose of ripe fruit, the tannins seem to be resolved, the berry flavors finishing soft and smooth. A very decent drink, I enjoyed
it with grilled lamb and roasted peppers.

  • Followed the 89 Ch Meyney last night with steak at Fogo de Chao, not decanted. Very strong nose, quite oaky, sweet with deep berries and jam. It tasted like an aussie shiraz, very fruit forward, quite sweet, a little overoaked. It's still pretty tannic and has acid in balance. There's a slight bitterness on the finish, detracting from the overall experience.

Hold it if you have it. It is a good bottle of wine, but IMO would improve if it was given a few more years, although I'm not sure it'll ever drop the bitterness.
