CdB Annual Meeting (Minneapolis Club, Mpls, MN): Dark red plus color. Small glass. Leather, blackberry, huckleberry, earthy, great mouthfeel, love the earthiness, adds black cherry on the palate. Love R-S and this is a really nice drinking '95 right now.

Dark maroon, looks youthful for a 28 year old claret. Intense nose of barnyard aromas that blew away within a few minutes of uncorking. That evolved to a nose of dark fruits, blueberries, blackcurrant with the background of forest floor. Palate was elegant, sweet dark fruits, medium bodied with adequate structure in my view. On the palate it reminded me of the 95 Pichon Lalande which I had a few years ago. The palate was stronger than the nose on this occasion.

Perfect fill level and pristine cork. Still youthful colour with minimal bricking. Farmyard first on the nose which went away quickly with a decant. Fresh shaved pencil, pencil lead and tobacco. Pointing more towards Pauillac than Margaux. Not much else going on - I was hoping for more cassis. Medium bodied with short hint of damson but ultimately not enough fruit - probably time to drink up. Slightly abrupt finish Tannins not fully resolved and slightly intrusive. Feels like drinking a lean year. Leaves a bit more to be desired. 1996 was much better in comparison. From Benjamin Liew's cellar.

Similar to my last tasting from 5 months ago, but this time I decanted and even held some for day 2. Much better with air, as the palate gained some weight and the tannins smoothed out considerably.

Late May 2023: not decanted; heavy sediment; deep purple color; complex nose of blackberry, blueberry and cassis aromas mingled with notes plum, coffee, sandalwood, violet and thyme; smooth texture on the palate balanced by a medium berry flavored juicy acidity; medium/full body.
