Casual Dinner with Gevrey 1er (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Served double blind alongside the Leroy 1999 Meursault Genevrieres. This was a tough wine to assess. It seemed much younger than a 1999 (I thought 2004) with some new oak elements still seemingly not integrated. Steely and powerful, slightly backward even at this age. Great density and concentration, I would think this will be better 5 years from now vs. today, probably even better yet in 10 years.

An extremely well crafted wine. Drinking very well. Beautiful balance with good integration. Not overly oaked- in comparison to 2 very good Australian Chardonnays drunk at the same time (a 2000 Giaconda and a 2000 Mount Mary). Lovely apple/pears characteristics and a lovely straw coloured. Remarkable youthful for a 13 year old wine and will continue to develop well for a few years to come (this said, it is drinking extremely well at present).

No premox with this bottle. Moving into the evolved white burg stage with hints of overripe apple and pear, but still a tinge of oak on the nose and gave it some verve on the palate. Not the best Perrieres I have ever had, but very good.
