This wine continues to amaze me. It definitely hit a period about 12-18 months ago where it seemed to be showing some deterioration and losing its flair. I'm pleased to report that it's back (at least this bottle was) and showing quite well. Nice aromas on the nose. Blue fruits still featured on the palate. Great length. Hard to complain.

Very, very, very good. I've had a fair amount of '05 Cote Sud over the last 1-2 years and none has presented as well as this bottling. Lovely aromas right from the start, with a nice array of lively fruit, balanced acidity, and length on the finish. I know they all will not show like this (there's a lot of variability in the older Domaine Serenes) but this was incredibly good, not just for the age, but for the polish and elegance that came through in the glass.

One of my favorites that continues to shine. The oxidation is starting to set in, but the body still has great weight and the acidity has helped retain some fresh fruit and character that pairs nicely with meals.

Continuing to age well.. Plenty of acidity to brace the fruit and keep things fresh. This particular bottle showed even better on night 2 when the flavors really came alive.

In the glass, ruby with a hint of bricking on the edge; aromas of cedar, berry and spice box. Lots of sediment kicking around the bottle, but on the palate this one is as smooth as can be. Integrated tannin and low acidity allows the blue and red fruits to mingle to a short-medium finish. Subtle, but not soft or weak. Thoughtful attention is rewarded by layers of complexity that are revealed as the wine opens up. A fantastic bottling and one that likely has another 2-3 years of cellar aging to enjoy.
