Dark purple in color, with an inky core. Aromas of brambly blackberry, blueberry, and violets give way to ripe black cherry, blueberry, Asian spice, and vanilla on the palate. This wine possesses briary zinfandel characteristics but also a sense of finesse. Soft, supple tannins and a medium finish.
Opens with a huge huckleberry note that eventually allows dried herb, violets and tobacco to show through. Still possesses nice structure with bright acidity to cut the fruit. Picks up a raisin-y quality on the finish. Nice, but pretty monolithic right now. Drink now-2013. 88 pts.
