Community Tasting Notes (14) Median Score: 90 points

  • 13% ABV. Medium straw in the glass. Reticent and slightly skunky lemon and lanolin nose. Medium bodied with tangy lemon drop flavors and some late mineral notes. Not bad, not great, probably past prime. This was an orphan bottle we left at the lake house a few years ago. 87?

  • Deep straw, medium viscosity, definitely showing some age... a nose of lychee, lime, starfruit, papaya, wet river stones, a hint of motor oil, grass from a lawnmower blade. The palate erupted in grapefruit, lime, crabapple, basil and plasticine, full bodied, with sharp acidity. I almost wondered if semillon were somehow blended in. Diesely, viscous, minerality galore. Hot alcohol (even though only 13%). Showing more like a white Bordeaux or an Alsace riesling in character. Not what I expected when I dragged this one out of the cellar.

  • Still holding up really well. Nice aroma of grapefruit. Crisp on the palate with flavors of citrus and melon. A decent finish to boot. Great summer drinker.

  • Paired this wine with baked cod in meyer lemon foam. Tropical fruit flavors in the wine complimented the citrus flavors in the food perfectly. Wine had a light bouquet of lychee nuts and tasted of honeydew melon, green grass, maybe even some coconut on the end. Finish decent but short. Good value and much better than I expected.

  • Nothing extraordinary about this Sauv Blanc. Aromas of lemongrass, cat pee, graphite, grapefruit. A little hot in the nose. There was a good acidity in the mouth with citrus, lemongrass, a tinge of minerality, but a little harsh.
