This was really nice. We didn’t decant it. There was sediment but we dealt with it in our glasses. Had it with steaks. One of our guests said it was spectacular. Another said it was like licking the dash of an Alfa Romeo, but we think he was drunk, overall a great wine

Very pretty garnet color with lots of light coming through. Initially, something of a musty nose, but that seemed to blow off. Initial mouth sensation has lots of earthiness. Just the lightest touch of Cabernet Sauvignon currant fruit. Some tobacco. Still some very serious tannin to the point that I am critical of the balance. The finish, though, is very rewarding—very mellow and enjoyable.

1992 Bordeaux is supposed to be a disaster, but no one mentioned that to Lynch Bages. On pop and pour, this was a delightfully proper Pauillac. Tobacco, red cherry and chalky minerals. This was terrific from the first pour. Eventually, after 3 hours, it did crack up on the finish and demonstrate the vintage challenges. However, it was stunningly pleasurable for hours. Great showing!
