Delicious. Served to us at a dinner party, paired with pasta alla ragu. A great pairing and the wine of the night for me. Decanted, but not sure how long. Il Poggione is one of the great Brunello producers, consistently good vintage after vintage. But, you never know what a cellared bottle will drink like until you drink it! And this one delivered! The colour is holding well, there's still fruit here (dark cherries, blackberry) and some tobacco and forest floor are creeping in. This is probably at or near its peak, but showing no signs of decline.

Carmel and currant in color; plum, earth dominate the nose, possibly some cork . Cherry, blackberry, currant, and truffle flavors, not many tannins left but trying to hang on.

Very similar notes to my last bottle of this wine. It had an amber color with an orange rim, notes of dusty cherries and saddle leather. Nice dark fruits and the tannins are silky smooth. While it probably has 3 or 4 more years left, this was my last bottle. Oh well.

Past drinkability window - down drain - bought from Auction so storage might have been questionable
