  An upper shoulder bottle bought a few months ago along with the 1967 drunk earlier this week. Both bottles clearly well kept in the same conditions with good labels and corks that came out whole with the butlers friend. This cork more saturated. Good fruit with a leathery flavour. An interesting comparison. The 70 is darker and has a lot more fruit. Both finishes are good and long. Despite being a better vintage with more fruit and well integrated with soft tannins the 1970 lacks the perfume and charm of the 1967. Celebrating delivery of the Oscar India.

  After 30 minutes it was probably an 86 and I gave up on it. 3 hours later it may have moved into the low 90s. So give this wine plenty of time to decant

  Drank alongside a '70 Chateau Batailley. The Leoville did not show as well as the Batailley. Very muted aromas of black currant and dark wild cherries. More fruity on the palate - black berries and tart cherries. Quite a bit of acidity on the back palate which give the wine an unpleasant sour note on the thankfully short finish. Definitely years past its prime.
