An evening of amazing white Burgundy at Bill's: Citrus and minerals. Dry in the mouth with a dense, silky texture. The limestone minerality imparts a mild bitter note due to the absence of any sweetness. This is a very nice wine, but also a mystery, as development has stopped on its tracks. A 2000 Ramonet Montrachet we had recently from Magnum had very similar characteristics. Are these 2000s going to develop further, or stay right here with interrupted development? Thank you, Bill.

At almost 20 years old, this has a clear appearance. The color is medium gold. It's actually misleading as it looks much younger than it's age.
Clean on the nose. Medium plus intensity. Notes of blossom, white nectarine, apricot, wet stones, cedar. It is developing.
It is dry on the palate. Acidity is medium plus. There's a slight hint of bitterness that feel almost like tannins. Alcohol is medium minus. It is medium bodied. With an oily, dense texture. It has medium plus intensity. Flavors of wet stones, savory biscuit, and there's also a saltiness that feels like sea water. The finish is medium plus with a ton of minerality.
Very good bottle. Can drink now but has potential for further aging.

'02 Musar at the Morris (The Morris, SF): Light dried peach and wax, savory milky wood. Peach in amber. Beautiful and lithe. Fresh mushroom. White truffle. Elevated acid. Medium body. Lighter Coche-like style. Dried tangerine embedded in clotted cream.
Like Coche seen through a translucent peach. Less precise flavors. Brighter reduction. White truffle. Super integrated and no oxidation.

Required 30 minutes after opening to really take off. A well structured example of this wine with well defined acids, energetic citrus notes and second level complexity from oyster shell and light mineral notes. An interesting comparison with the '99 consumed alongside

(Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon) Light golden yellow color; mature hazelnut, cheese rind nose with some reduction; tart lemon, almond, pear, vanilla, a little tight now; medium finish
(Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clavoillon") Very ripe nose with a hint of minerals. Very soft on the palate with floral notes and impressive concentration. Great clarity and loads of minerals on the finish. Soft yet powerful on the finish. Sneaks up on ya.

An old vinous friend - still singing as with the last bottle tasting extraordinarily young .
