Ooops, thought this was a case of Spatlese. Relieved to find that it smells and drinks like one! Only the color would make one think it's just over a decade old. Gooseberry, peach, slate and just a touch of TDN's petrol notes. Quite good, will be running through these in short order though there is no apparent rush called for with how it's showing.

SnP, served non-blind. Youthful pale straw color, loads of spritzig. Fresh, but simple. Yellow orchard fruits, slight hint of petrol/place, faint spice. More memorable for its freshness and liveliness than its complexity or finish; very good as a food wine, which, on the night, was entirely the point. Purchased on release and cellared since fall '07, should easily have another 4-5 good years in it, but no point in waiting, either. 8,5% abv

Light toward medium straw color, no sign of age. I picked this up just over 4 years ago from WineX @ $22, solely based on the rep of the winery. I recall opening one before I'd even left California, I wasn't even 2 sips into it before I'd realized I opened it too young. This showing, however, has all the pieces fitting together nicely, gracefully. The freshness is still quite keen, with plenty of red apples, spice, mineral and mango, on the nose and the palate, but what kicks this up a notch is the precision with which the fruits and acids exhibit, demanding greater focus on the part of the taster with each successive glass. Recommended, B+/A-, drink thru 2018

Light petroleum notes, light on alcohol (8.5%) and everything else. Light disappointment.
