#15-90, 8% abv. The cork smelled intensely of TCA, but I didn't really pick up any on the nose, even though it is decidedly funky, with plenty of petrol and gasoline notes. There is admittedly something damp here, but it doesn't come across as the smell of wet cardboard. A really nice smokiness emerges with some air too. This was a clearly tired bottle, showing some earthy flavours on the palate, as well as some dried fruit, and while there is a fair bit of acidity on the palate here, this doesn't really have any cut anymore. Lots of secondary and tertiary flavours, but nothing too interesting.

Liked this a lot, though it seemed to split opinions at the table - dominated by aged creamy and smoky flavours with ripe peachy and citrus fruit flavours beneath. It doesn't have the cut or vibrancy I'd usually expect from Haag, but it's quite lovely to drink though struggling a little in contrast with the older Prums.

Sweet wine tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Unfortunately corked. Otherwise a perfect, youthful bottle.

Grand Sichuan NYC (quick notes): Fairly complex nose, quite quaffable, though neither memorable nor remarkable. =

Unreal German, Alsacian and Loire wines with Thai lunch... (Bellevue, WA, USA): A nose of diesel and plasticene. The palate is rich in glycerine, custardy. Amazing acidity. A long, loooong finish. Gorgeous!
